A little light reading is good...

A Cascade of Squids

Some squid pics overdue for posting

Crafty Crafty!

In ramping up for the crafty season I've been creating like the devil. The following are some new pieces I'm calling  "reliquaries". They're the tiny aged hands of many exotic creatures sealed safely in little bottles.  Useful as decoration, gifts and quite handy as a pin cushion.

Summertime Creature Feature!!!

A wile ago my friend Alex B asked for a crab warrior. Alex is really into ancient cultures and monsters etc. The creature I made took longer than expected and I had a hard time parting with it. His necklace is made of actual gold a jeweler friend gave me. I'm a big fan of the details and missing limbs...enjoy!

the makings of a good SeaMonster

My friend Eleanor handed me a Crab Claw the size of my palm and said "I'd like a monster please"

Much later she received this, she calls Him Creature.

Things From December 2009

Welcome to My New Blog, here's a few things you should know...

So, it's 2011 and I figured it was important to get back out there. I'm not quite sure what to do with my website( http://www.beardedtalesofwoe.com ) it's never been quite what I wanted and my Design friends deserve more than I can currently afford to pay them for a better one.
thus BOOM! here we are Blog, we'll see where it goes.
Most of what's going to be on here will be craft. These creatures are not quite toys and not quite sculptures, and things will only get more confusing as they move in both directions at once.
I will also be posting New drawings, paintings, photographs& process work as I endeavor to get back into 2D and used to working again.
Your comments on possible applications or directions for my work are appreciated. If you know of a technique or a link that might improve my process please let me know.
Since the last ten months have been spent backpacking and readjusting to city life, the initial work posted here will be from the last two years.
I hope you enjoy what you see.
Cheers!

you have to start somewhere

Two years ago I made this as a Valentines Day image for the Weekly DIG, it was never used but I'm happy with it.
